Belinda Brown started her journey with Crohn’s and Colitis New Zealand six years ago when she raised funds for Camp Purple Live 2015. Belinda went on to volunteer at that first camp as a leader and CCNZ then approached her to join their Board as a Trustee. After six years of volunteering, Belinda is now the only paid employee of CCNZ. However she still volunteers all her time for Camp Purple Live, something she feels deeply passionate about.
Belinda has Crohn’s disease and was diagnosed when she was 26 years old after enduring 6 years of symptoms. Once she had a diagnosis the only option was to have a bowel resection as her disease was so severe. Since that diagnosis and first surgery she has gone on to have another bowel resection.
Belinda lives on a lifestyle block in Auckland with her daughter, husband and many animals. She is extremely passionate about her work for CCNZ, Camp Purple Live and the wider IBD community.
